Dave Serfling Is Retiring
YES, AFTER 39 FUN AND AMAZING YEARS OF TEACHING DANCE, DAVE IS RETIRING!

The Rockin’ Horse Dance Barn has been a dance studio for 27 years. With the help of many talented instructors and DJs, Dave has taught countless wonderful people to dance through group classes, private lessons, special events, and our “Every Friday Night Dances.” It’s been an incredible journey filled with so much dancing!
Dave’s dedication to his students and his commitment to creating “THE BARN” made this decision a bit harder than he imagined. He truly built a dance home where people found joy, friendships, life partners, and the pure fun of dancing. As an instructor, Dave’s charisma, wit, technical yet humor-infused teaching style, and extensive knowledge across many dance styles have been truly remarkable. His skill in switching between lead and follow, clearly teaching each role, and remembering all those line dances will be deeply missed. I’m so grateful to be one of the many, like you, who have wonderful memories of their dance journey with Dave.
Even though Dave Serfling is retiring, the good news is that Dave and I will continue to be active in the dance community, enjoying our dance journey with the amazing friends we’ve made and the new ones we’ll meet.
Cheers!
Jimmi Serfling
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR
THE BARN???
For the immediate future:
Dave will teach and DJ for the last four “Every Friday Night Dances”
Dave will continue teaching private lessons through October, along with a few other scheduled private events.
Sequoia and Joe will complete their scheduled group classes and private lessons.
Looking ahead:
The Barn has been a beloved dance venue since it was built for square dancing in 1958 (originally Hagen’s Barn). Dave purchased it, from the Hagen’s, in 1998, and The Rockin’ Horse Dance Barn has since brought Country, Swing, Ballroom, and Line Dancing to our cherished wood dance floor.
Our hope, and plans, are to keep The Barn as a place for dancing. While we don’t have all the details yet regarding who, what, or when, there are many possibilities and opportunities for various dance businesses to utilize The Barn. Please help us spread the word to your dance-related connections if they might be interested.
