Question: Do I need to bring a partner?
Answer:
No. We do our best to make our classes balanced between men and women or as we refer to students “leads and follows”
Question: How do I register?
Answer:
We have 3 ways:
- Online:
Find the class or classes you want to take on this page. Enter your name and phone number and click register. Follow the prompts on how you wish to pay ie. VISA, MC etc. (You don't need to use PayPal that is just one option).
- By Mail:
Print and fill-out a registration form and mail it in will a check.
- In Person:
You can register early (or at the door) for classes with Cash, Check or Credit Card. However if this is your first time attending a class we recommend registering early to guarantee your spot in a class.
Question: What kind of shoes should I wear?
Answer: These are recommendations. You can start out with whatever you have available for now.
- We recommend that you bring your shoes. This keeps them clean and dry.
- Shoes work best if they are boots or shoes that lace, or buckle. This keeps them on your feet without your toes needing to grip them. Slip-ons are not recommended.
- The bottom or sole of the shoe works best if it slides. The best material is either suede (aka: brushed leather) or leather.
- The heel should be the same height that you are used to wearing at least in the beginning. After you have danced for a while you may decide to change the heel.
- The last thing is to dedicate this pair of shoes to dancing only. Don't wear them outside and keep them clean. A lot of people have a shoe bag or boot bag they keep them in. Change your shoes inside the facility before class and change back after class.
Question: What class should I take first?
Answer:
This is a popular question and not the same answer for everyone. You must start with a beginner level (1a or 1b) class.
You may take the 1a or the 1b class your first time. It doesn't matter. They are both for beginners. We offer different turns (material) in each class so you can repeat classes and enjoy new material without having to move up in difficulty. We strongly recommend repeating classes for your muscle memory and confidence on the dance floor. People always comment on how much more fun and easier the classes are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time they take them. You will always learn something helpful in every class.
- We recommend that you start with East Coast Swing (1a or 1b) or Jitterbug (1a or 1b) if you want to learn to Swing Dance.
- If you like Country Western Dancing start with the Country 2-Step (1a or 1b) class.
- If you like Latin music try the Salsa (1a or 1b) Class.
- If you want to Line Dance we have a beginner class on Monday evening, Tuesday or Thursday mornings at 10:00. You never need a partner for Line Dancing.
Question: What is dance floor etiquette?
Answer:
Dance Floor Etiquette is a very important way we all share the dance floor. (More to come. I'm working on a complete page of information) |
